Fortunes

Mesmerizing rain on a roof of metal

comfortable armchair and book I do settle.

A fire softly flickers, its bands of red and gold

stays off the chill of an early morning cold.

Big fur child, that sleeps by my feet

an involuntary sigh of this wonderful treat.

I look out upon the land so green

interpret all that I am able to glean.

How blessed I am to be part of this land

to enrich it, with the work of my hand.

To see the wild ones as they trek on by

the magical formations that form in the sky.

To look up from my readings and look out with a smile

to appreciate life and reconcile.

Acknowledge the grandeur of all that I sense

accepting my place with no pretense.

Now drifting back to my calming sleep

the warmth of my dog upon my feet.
